Schedule: Monday - Friday; Days 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Sign-on Bonus: up to $10,000

SUMMARY

As a Cytology Specialist, your advanced examination and evaluation skills play a crucial role in diagnosing diseases from gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides. Your expertise directly contributes to enhancing patient care and outcomes.

Our laboratory and pathology services are essential for diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases. With convenient patient laboratory service centers, home lab services, and expert pathologists, we provide a comprehensive range of testing services to our communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carefully examine and report on Gynecologic and Non-gynecologic Cytology specimens.
• Update and maintain cytology reports and slide files accurately.
• Assist personnel with Cytology FNA procedures.
• Have knowledge and capability to help with cytopreparatory procedures.
• Utilize Cytology Information System effectively.
• Engage with physician offices to gather pertinent clinical information and resolve specimen issues.
• Participate in Continuing Medical Education to enhance skills.
• Contribute to teaching efforts for students from various programs.
• Adhere to department procedures and protocols rigorously.
• Identify and analyze problems scientifically, notifying the supervisor or lead tech as needed.
• Help maintain department compliance with technical readiness.
• Ensure essential information is relayed to the appropriate personnel.
• Promote a positive work environment, collaborating well with both staff and other departments.
• Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Division Supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Cytotechnology or a related Science.
• New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit to practice as a Cytotechnologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred.
• Prior experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory is advantageous.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects; requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$39.00 - $46.35

The base pay range provided reflects the potential earnings for a successful full-time applicant and may be adjusted in the future based on factors like experience, qualifications, specialty, and location.
