We're seeking an experienced Cytology Laboratory Manager to join a cutting-edge diagnostic laboratory in Austin, TX . This role is perfect for someone who thrives on lab operations, workflow efficiency, and team leadership rather than cytology screening.
You'll work directly under the Associate Director (General Supervisor), overseeing daily operations and ensuring high standards in quality, compliance, and turnaround time. This is a rare opportunity to play a key leadership role in one of the nation's most advanced cytology labs, supporting diagnostic processes that make a direct impact on patient care.

• No screening required! This position focuses entirely on operations, management, and bench support in cytology processing.
  
• Oversee a small, dedicated team of 2-4 lab professionals .
  
• Manage and participate in all daily workflows - from accessioning to processing, receiving, and archiving .
  
• Support high-volume cytology operations (70,000+ samples annually ) that are essential to advanced molecular testing.
  
• Step in on the bench as needed to keep workflows running smoothly.
  

About the Lab:
This Austin-based CLIA-certified facility plays a critical role in supporting molecular diagnostic testing for thyroid nodules. The lab focuses on:

• Specimen receiving and accessioning
  
• Cytology processing (liquid-based prep and PAP staining)
  
• Microtomy and H&E staining
  

You'll join a team of 20 skilled laboratory professionals-including cytology processors, histotechs, and pathologists-who take pride in precision and patient impact.What We're Looking For:

• Strong background in cytology laboratory operations (processing focus; not screening)
  
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical lab setting
  
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  
• Ability to work collaboratively and ensure efficient, compliant workflows
