Cybersecurity Analyst I

The Cybersecurity Analyst I monitors and triages security alerts to identify potential threats across enterprise systems, networks, and cloud environments. This position serves as the first line of defense within the Cybersecurity Operations team by reviewing alerts, gathering data, and escalating incidents for deeper investigation. The Cybersecurity Analyst I supports ongoing security operations, maintains situational awareness, and assists in improving detection accuracy through tuning and process refinement. This entry-level position provides hands-on experience in security monitoring, analysis, and incident response while building a foundation for advancement into higher-tier roles.

Essential Functions:

• Monitor and analyze security alerts, logs, and events to identify and validate potential threats.
• Perform initial investigations to gather context and evidence for security incidents.
• Escalate verified events and findings to senior analysts for further investigation or remediation.
• Document all findings accurately within established systems and follow defined escalation procedures.
• Assist with alert tuning, false-positive reduction, and detection performance improvements.
• Participate in team training, tabletop exercises, and process reviews to enhance readiness and skill development.
• All Other Duties As Assigned

Experience/Qualifications:

• Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree
• Preferred Degree: Master's Degree in Cyber Security
• Certificate(s) or License(s) preferred: Security+ Certification
• Years of experience: Zero to three

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

• Knowledge of Information Security, compliance, and system administration.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals.
• Ability to present and explain technical topics, problems, and alternative solutions to others.
• Ability to maintain appropriate documentation.
• Desire to learn new tools.

Travel Requirements:

• Possible infrequent travel

Physical Requirements:

• Regular computer work and sitting.
• Occasional walking and standing.

Independent Judgement:

• Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
