Job Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Performs high quality diagnostic cardiac and/or vascular imaging procedures. Maintains accurate documentation of results and reports to physicians as directed.

Responsibilities may include:

• Performs various diagnostic cardiology or peripheral vascular exams including but not limited to:

Vascular Imaging

Carotid duplex

Peripheral arterial duplex

Ankle/brachial indices

Segmental pressures

Peripheral venous duplex

Cerebrovascular duplex

Absominal Aorta Duplex

Cardiac Imaging

Echocardiography

Exercise stress echo

Noninvasive Cardiac Testing

Electrocardiograms (ECG)

Holter/Event monitor application

Non-imaging stress testing

• Corroborates clinical history and assesses patient for appropriateness of ordered procedure.

• Provides patient education, applies patient relations skills and maintains confidentiality of patients and customers in a safe and professional manner.

• Assumes responsibility for assigned area, reporting equipment malfunctions and procedure difficulties.

• Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development through participation in department meetings, in-service programs, and continuing education programs.

• Performs value-added activities that result in positive customer satisfaction and/or financial performance.

• Participates in Quality Improvement and Accreditation activities as assigned.

• Participates in all safety, security, and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent clinical job training.

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI (RCS), within 12 months of hire.

• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), within 12 months of hire.

• BLS certification through American Heart Association, within 30 days of hire.

• Must be familiar with standard cardiac and/or peripheral vascular ultrasound views, equipment, and controls

• Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology

• Knowledge of basic maintenance and upkeep of equipment

• Ability to effectively communicate with team members, physicians, patients, hospital staff, and departmental supervisor in a courteous and professional manner

• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and professional standards

• Demonstrates personal traits of motivation, quality, teamwork, professionalism, and integrity.

• Ability to communicate clearly when explaining purpose of procedure and assuring patient understanding and cooperation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI (RCS) strongly preferred

• Current Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) strongly preferred

• Previous experience in echo, vascular, cardiology imaging strongly preferred

Pay Range

$49.96 - $74.31 /hour
