Customs Trades Specialist

Our client, a leading logistics provider, is seeking a Customs Trades Specialist to join their team. As a Customs Trades Specialist, you will be part of the Customs Brokerage Department supporting the operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and problem-solving skills which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Customs Trades Specialist (DIRECT HIRE) Location: Tonawanda, NY Pay Range: Starting at $16.50 - based on experience Shift: 1st Shift 8AM-4:30PM (Monday to Friday) Orientation: On-site orientation 1 to 2 days then hybrid Holidays: Must be flexible to potentially work all holidays. PTO blackout from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day.

What's the Job?

• Responsible for decision making related to release tasks and assigning work for proper entry processing.
• Analyze documentation to determine harmonized tariff numbers and ensure compliance with customs regulations.
• Complete classification of imported merchandise and calculate duty rates using FedEx systems.
• Communicate with customers, government agencies, and internal departments to resolve inquiries and obtain necessary documentation.
• Process invoices and make necessary adjustments to accounts as requested by management.

What's Needed?

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of business experience, with one year of related experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to analyze data and make sound decisions in a time-sensitive environment.
