Overview
nTo perform routine and specialized examinations in the specialty area of CT, adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.
nQualifications
nLicense/Certifications:
nBasic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA);
nLicensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA);
nRegistered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
nRegistered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
nEducation:
nAssociate's Degree or Certificate in Radiology or Related Field
nOther Knowledge/Skills:
nResponsibilities
nClinical Excellence
nPerforms procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages. Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all aspects of CT.
nExhibits competency in performing and filming CT radiographic and specialized procedures
nDeviates from routines when the patient's condition requires it or at the request of the radiologist
nKnowledgeable of invasive procedures, sterile tray set up, assisting radiologist, catheters and guidewires, orders labs and pathology tests, and schedules procedures appropriately
nObtains and documents accurate pre and post procedure information as applicable
nFollows JCAHO patient safety goals
nMaintains quality care throughout the procedure
nTechnically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software, CT 1, CT 2, workstation, printers
nPerforms reasonable trouble shooting
nChecks and observes equipment for general safety, maintenance, and appropriate operation
nReports equipment problems through appropriate channels
nMaintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room
nQuality of Care
nPerforms support functions of the Medical Imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.
nPromptly processes films and paper work according to proper procedures to ensure timely turn around in providing a report to the physician's office
nMaintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, transporting patients to and from the department as required
nPromptly and accurately completes all fields in the HIS STAR Radiology system, i.e. number of films repeated, contrast reaction, exam data entry, start and stop times of exam
nMaintains and ensures a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs
nDemonstrates a practical problem solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.
nDemonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.
nRelationship Building
nAssumes personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students and uses time, supplies and other resources productively to promote responsive and cost effective care for our patients.
nShares knowledge, guides and encourages fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures
nDisplays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment
nCompletes care while conserving resources, preventing waste of supplies
nUses slow time to improve area appearance and accept additional assignments such as cassette cleaning, apron testing and film file duties

nCompensation and Benefits
nThe compensation range for this position is $31.03per hour - $53.37per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
