Job Summary:
The CT Technologist I is responsible for producing diagnostic images using CT technology while ensuring a patient-centered approach. Key duties include preparing and positioning patients, collaborating with radiologists, and maintaining equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Operate CT equipment to produce high-quality images, adhering to protocols and standards.
- Prepare and position patients safely and comfortably for CT procedures.
- Ensure accurate patient identification and verify physician orders while screening for contraindications.
- Clearly explain procedures to patients, addressing concerns to minimize anxiety.
- Collaborate with radiologists and team members to provide accurate, timely care.
- Review images for quality and present findings to radiologists.
- Conduct regular quality control checks on equipment and report malfunctions promptly.
- Document patient histories accurately to support diagnostic interpretations.
- Follow safety protocols and infection control guidelines consistently.
- Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with all policies.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of clinical experience from an accredited radiologic sciences program required.
- 2-4 years of experience as a Computed Tomography Technologist in an acute care setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in the operation of CT equipment.
- Focused on ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Skilled in patient positioning techniques.
- Competent in equipment maintenance.
- Effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Knowledgeable of aseptic techniques and radiologic practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Able to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist per state regulations required.
- ARDMS or ARRT - Radiographer certification preferred.
- CT certification or eligibility to obtain within six months of hire required.
- BCLS certification within 90 days of hire required.
