CT Imaging Specialist

In this role, you will expertly manage all aspects of CT scanning and patient care. As a key part of our team, you will perform a range of radiologic procedures at a technical level and take responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. You'll frequently engage with acutely ill patients and be involved in various interventional procedures, body fluids, and radiation exposure.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients by explaining the exam process, completing intravenous contrast worksheets, and taking allergy histories.
• Prepare the room, ensuring it has clean linen and that the power injector is loaded and armed.
• Maintain proficiency in IV starts according to Radiology Nurse Guidelines.
• Assist patients physically on and off the scanner table.
• Facilitate patient flow by prioritizing and accommodating inpatients, emergency room patients, and urgent outpatient referrals.
• Demonstrate technical expertise to acquire the highest quality diagnostic scans, adjusting technical factors based on patient age, weight, and body habitus.
• Consistently produce diagnostic quality radiographs through proper technical factors and patient positioning.
• Accurately complete all patient paperwork and documentation, including exam charging and insurance processing.
• Annotate regions of interest, measurements, reconstructions, and reformations accurately.
• Maintain effective communication with team members and other departments to enhance patient care.
• Safely operate all imaging equipment according to manufacturer specifications and adhere to safe radiation guidelines.
• Follow established procedures for safe patient interactions and body mechanics.
• Comply with safety protocols related to hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens.
• Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development per performance reviews.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required; graduation from an ARRT-approved program in radiologic technology.

Experience:
Preferred 1-2 years of experience in a CT department, with previous radiographic experience required.

Licensure:
Must hold a current Connecticut State license in Radiography. BLS certification required.

Special Skills:
ARRT (R) and (CT) registration required, except for applicants in the cross-training program, who must obtain their advanced CT Registry within 10 months of completing the cross-training.
