Construction Safety Manager

The Construction Health and Safety Manager will serve as a field-level representative for health and safety on state-of-the-art hyperscale data center projects. This role provides essential oversight and support to General Contractor (GC) teams, fostering a culture of safety excellence. You will establish and nurture collaborative relationships, ensuring safety practices are implemented and continuously improved through the adoption of industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with global construction safety requirements, including verifying that GCs adhere to safety policies and maintain comprehensive safety programs.
• Conduct regular on-site safety observations and document findings in comprehensive reports to enhance safety practices.
• Participate in planning meetings to ensure safety considerations are integrated into all project phases.
• Guide GC leadership in safety practices through training sessions and workshops, emphasizing a strong safety culture.
• Work collaboratively with GCs to prepare their teams to meet safety expectations through transparent communication and constructive feedback.
• Influence and coach GC teams to empower them in managing their operations while sharing best practices.
• Engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration across all project levels.
• Drive continuous improvement of safety standards by researching and implementing industry best practices.
• Promote a growth mindset and encourage continuous learning and innovation in safety solutions.
• Conduct site safety walks, lead daily meetings, review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety standards.

Essential Skills

• 10+ years of experience in health and safety management, particularly in construction or project environments.
• Expertise in OSHA 1926, NFPA 70E compliance, and safety management.
• Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders and foster a collaborative environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred).
• Preferred certifications: Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or other relevant safety designations.

Work Environment

The position is based in San Jose, California, with a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday, 50 hours per week. The role involves regular site visits and interaction with various stakeholders, requiring strong communication and collaboration skills.

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Clara, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $97.00 - $107.00/hr.
