Compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse

Baptist Health Urgent Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our thriving healthcare team.

Baptist Health Urgent Care operates 23 locations across Arkansas and is affiliated with Urgent Team, a leading independent operator of urgent and family care centers in the Southeast. We take pride in offering quality and affordable family healthcare at over 80 locations under eight brands.

Our convenient walk-in centers provide a wide range of healthcare services, including treatments for injuries and illnesses, occupational health, and wellness care. We are open seven days a week, with hours as follows: Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. All our centers are Accredited Care Centers, recognized for our commitment to safety, quality, and the breadth of services we offer.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Licensed Practical Nurse will play a vital role in our patient care team by greeting and supporting patients, activating their files, and assisting our medical staff. Our full-time team members work a rotating schedule of 36-40 hours per week, comprising 12-hour shifts during weekdays and alternating weekends. We also welcome PRN (per diem) team members who may be scheduled as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities below reflect the essential functions of the position but are not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned.

• Greet patients and prepare them for examinations or procedures.
• Collect and record patient health histories while noting any abnormal conditions for the physician.
• Guide patients through the collection of samples and tests.
• Obtain vital signs and escort patients to examination rooms.
• Assist in preparing supplies and equipment and support the physician or mid-level practitioner during patient care.
• Administer injections and prescribed medications as directed.
• Monitor, record, and report patients' conditions and reactions to treatments to physicians.
• Maintain accurate and timely entries in patient charts and manage patient files and records.
• Assist with scheduling tests, treatments, and referrals to specialists.
• Collect and deliver lab specimens, and retrieve lab results.
• Notify patients of test results and follow-up appointments.
• Ensure cleanliness and restocking of examination/treatment rooms.
• Adhere to infection control policies when managing hazardous waste.
• Educate patients and families on medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
• Support physical exams and preparations as needed.
• Contact pharmacies to refill prescriptions and communicate with patients.
• Manage medication inventory and monitor controlled substances.
• Oversee supply inventory and the usage of medical materials.
• Respond to and screen telephone inquiries, triaging patients to ensure efficient departmental flow.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree from an accredited school of practical nursing is required. A minimum of two years' experience in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred. Candidates must hold a current Licensed Practical Nurse license in accordance with state regulations.
