Clinical Nursing Supervisor - Medical Surgical Services

Position Summary:
The Clinical Nursing Supervisor, working under the direction of the Nursing Department Director/Manager, plays a vital role in leadership and operations within a clinical department. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of nursing care provided to patients and their families. The Clinical Supervisor utilizes effective human resource management and budget principles to oversee daily nursing services.

This role emphasizes collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to support comprehensive patient and family services. The Clinical Nursing Supervisor supervises nursing staff, provides patient care when necessary, and serves as a coach and guide to team members. By demonstrating professionalism and excellence, the Clinical Supervisor sets a standard for clinical and service exceptionalism.

Requirements:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN preferred; National specialty certification preferred.
• Certification/Licenses: Current RN license; BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS/NRP as applicable; TNCC as needed; CPI or equivalent within 6 months for specific departments.
• Skills: Knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care/services for patients on the assigned unit.
• Experience: 3 years of relevant experience preferred.

Nature of Supervision:
Reports to Nursing Leadership.

Environment:
May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and various unpredictable situations. Works irregular hours and manages multiple patient care activities.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to handle emergencies, considerable standing, and use good body mechanics. May require positioning, pushing, or transferring patients or equipment. Must possess normal hearing and visual acuity, along with manual dexterity and fine motor coordination.
