Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Department: Laboratory Services

Hours Per Week: 37.5 weekly scheduled hours

Schedule: 7.5-hour day shifts

SUMMARY: Join our dedicated team of professionals as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. In this vital role, you will perform essential clinical laboratory analyses and examinations on blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues according to established procedures. Use your expertise in various instruments and methods to assist with physician diagnosis and treatment while adhering to published turnaround times. This position requires exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment within the laboratory setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accurately perform tests and ensure timely results.
• Interpret and correlate clinical test results with patient history and conditions to support appropriate medical actions.
• Communicate urgent and critical lab results, as well as any instrument malfunctions, to healthcare professionals.
• Conduct quality control and maintenance activities, including troubleshooting instrumentation.
• Prepare reagents and manage laboratory supplies while focusing on cost containment.
• Utilize required computer systems for completing testing and managing workflow efficiently.
• Provide teaching assistance in the School of Medical Technology and Lab rotations, as needed.
• Consistently meet all regulatory lab requirements.
• Perform additional duties as requested by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma
• New York State Department of Education License, Provisional Permit, or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related Science
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work: This role requires exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Frequent walking, standing, and squatting is required.

PAY RANGE: $33.75 - $45.00
