Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Location: Massena Hospital

Hours Per Week: 40 scheduled weekly hours

Schedule: 8 hour shifts

SUMMARY:

Join our dedicated medical team as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, where you will play a vital role in conducting accurate clinical laboratory analyses and examinations on blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues. Utilizing various instruments and methods, you will assist in physician diagnosis and treatment while ensuring timely turnaround of results. This position requires independent judgment and problem-solving skills in addressing clinical and instrumentation challenges, along with adherence to all regulatory lab requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform laboratory tests with precision and efficiency, ensuring accuracy in results.
• Interpret and correlate test results to patient history and clinical condition, facilitating appropriate medical actions.
• Communicate critical lab results promptly to physicians and relevant medical personnel.
• Conduct quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
• Prepare reagents and manage laboratory supplies while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
• Stay adept in the necessary computer functions for testing and reporting.
• Assist in teaching within the School of Medical Technology as required.
• Consistently comply with all regulatory lab standards.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Licensed or permitted by the New York State Department of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related Science.
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. The role requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $33.75 - $45.00

The base pay range represents potential starting pay for successful applicants. Factors such as experience, qualifications, and contract negotiations influence actual pay.
