Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist

Join our dynamic team as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist! You will play a critical role in conducting clinical tests across diverse laboratory sections, including general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Your expertise will ensure that we deliver accurate and timely results, provide patient care, and maintain high standards in quality control and equipment maintenance!

Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen collection and handling tasks, including obtaining blood samples through venipuncture and fingerstick techniques. Ensure accuracy in patient identification and specimen labeling.
• Conduct laboratory testing across various sections, including Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Blood Bank procedures, ensuring timely and accurate result reporting.
• Maintain quality control processes according to established guidelines, monitoring performance indicators and ensuring compliance with CLIA, CAP, AABB, and JCAHO standards.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshoot minor issues, and manage laboratory supplies efficiently.
• Contribute to a culture of learning by assisting in the training of new associates and students.
• Adhere to established safety and compliance protocols, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials and infection control practices.
• Utilize laboratory information systems effectively to perform testing and report results.
• Complete annual competency assessments and proactively seek opportunities for professional growth and education.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• Associate's Degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training as per CLIA regulations.
• Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory program or possess at least three months of documented training in all specialty areas where high complexity testing will be performed.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary for graduates from accredited clinical laboratory training programs.
• Six months of clinical laboratory experience preferred, particularly including rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Hematology.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• State licensure may be required depending on location.
• New graduates should obtain board certification within one year of hiring, unless otherwise exempted by state regulations.
