Clinical Laboratory Scientist I - Lab Administration

Job Summary: Join our dedicated team as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I, where you will play a vital role in performing routine laboratory procedures and ensuring the highest quality of patient care under the guidance of the Clinical Laboratory Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine laboratory procedures relevant to your assigned section, adhering to age and sex-specific values.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment, escalating issues to Bio-med as necessary.
• Participate in cross-training across different laboratory sections to enhance your skills.
• Follow the laboratory's quality control program diligently.
• Calculate, enter, and verify the results of laboratory procedures accurately.
• Utilize the Laboratory Information System effectively for documentation.
• Notify and document critical laboratory values promptly.
• Process patient specimens with attention to detail, including adequate handling and distribution, especially for pediatric samples.
• Engage in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new testing procedures and protocols.
• Diverse patient care responsibilities, adapting methods to meet the unique needs of each patient served.
• Embody and uphold the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health in your daily activities.
• Complete all compliance and regulatory tasks in strict adherence to applicable policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as requested or directed.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant science field from an accredited institution, or equivalent training and experience as defined by CLIA regulations.
• New graduates from accredited clinical laboratory training programs are welcome to apply.
• A minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience that includes rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids, or five years as a Medical Laboratory Technician is required.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certification as MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from recognized bodies must be obtained within one year of hire.
• Maintain certification and adhere to state licensure requirements where applicable.
