The Clinical Content Developer plays a crucial role in developing and updating clinical content for Optum Clinical Products. This position leverages critical appraisal, medical literature review, and data analysis, in collaboration with external peer reviewers, to ensure that clinical content adheres to the highest standards of evidence-based practice. Additionally, the Clinical Content Developer is responsible for quality assurance and addressing inquiries from both internal and external clients.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Utilize principles of evidence-based medicine (EBM) to design, develop, and refresh clinical content for the InterQual Level of Care product line. Gather and integrate feedback from external peer reviewers and clients to ensure real-world clinical accuracy and usability.
- Perform quality assurance on clinical content and create and maintain the necessary clinical documentation.
- Act as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Product Development, Product Management, Product Owner, and Business Systems Analyst as necessary.
- Engage in developing project plans, monitor tasks, and ensure timely delivery of clinical development projects.
- Participate in field research aimed at advancing product relevance as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Licensed healthcare professional (e.g., Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant) with a valid license in good standing.
- 5+ years of experience in a clinical setting or case management role.
- 5+ years of experience in Adult Inpatient Care.
- 1+ years of experience in writing and summarizing clinical research studies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (e.g., NP or PA).
- 3+ years of experience in Adult Emergency Department, Observation Unit, or Intensive Care Unit.
- Experience with utilization management (UM), case management, or applying evidence-based guidelines such as InterQual/Clinical Decision Support applications.
- Willingness to learn and explore new technologies related to Research and Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM).
- Familiarity with medical coding schemes.
- Demonstrated ability to adopt technology with proficiency in software applications, including MS Office, Teams, and proprietary software.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to follow logical pathways to reach conclusions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A results-oriented approach, thriving both as a team player and an independent worker, with excellent attention to detail and multitasking abilities.

The compensation for this role ranges from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. Several factors influence this pay, including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
