Class B CDL Hazmat Driver - CleanPack Chemist

Clean Harbors is seeking a Class B CDL Hazmat Driver (CleanPack Chemist) to join our team! In this exciting role, you will be responsible for handling, segregating, packing, and inspecting chemical waste while adhering to all Federal, State, and Local regulations, as well as our company policies and procedures. You will work both indoors and outdoors at various locations, including plants, labs, and customer sites.

This position involves direct interaction with customers as you assist with lab packs within customer facilities and conduct household hazardous waste (HHW) collections. The Environmental Field Chemist is not a laboratory-based position, making it a dynamic and engaging role!

Key Responsibilities:

• Prioritize health and safety by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications using a computer.
• Conduct inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure compliance with housekeeping procedures.
• Inspect storage areas and drums for leaks, spills, and compliance with labeling regulations.
• Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals efficiently and compliantly.
• Execute projects at customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies.
• Prepare and approve all projects for shipment according to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies.
• Understand customer-specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements.
• Sample and profile new waste streams requiring analytical testing.
• Ensure drum counts are accurate and that drum conditions meet shipping standards.
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with regulations and corporate guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Required: Valid CDL Class B with hazmat endorsement.
• Must obtain a tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to perform physical functions required by the job.
• Complete a background check, drug test, and physical examination.
• Comply with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, including facial hair standards.

• Preferred: College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science.
• Previous experience in Environmental Services (e.g., remediation, abatement, emergency spill response).
