WSP is currently initiating a search for a Civil Engineer-Water Resources for our New Orleans or Baton Rouge office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established team with excellent mentor/managers and offers the ability to work on some of the most exciting infrastructure projects for our municipal and private clients!

This candidate will utilize their professional experience and technical knowledge of civil engineering to support a variety of civil projects that could include stormwater and drainage design, floodplain management and flood control, water/wastewater, site civil and utility design.

Your Impact

  Manage projects as assigned, including assisting with project pursuits, development of scope and level of effort, project execution, and project closeout, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and budget requirements.

  Work with our Louisiana team and support our engineering teams throughout the Southern region to deliver successful projects for our clients.

• n

  Perform and/or provide oversight over technical work including site visits, studies, data collection, analysis and evaluations, hydraulic calculations and modeling; prepare engineering reports and supporting calculations and documents, prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.

  Perform professional civil engineering work, develop design criteria, and assist with research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, infrastructure, and transportation channels to achieve overall project objectives.

  Provide technical expertise on various engineering, design, and construction issues.

  Analyzes topographic survey data and assists in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during field investigations.

  Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies and design using hydrologic and hydraulic software.

  n

• n

  Performs drainage system, stormwater management, potable water systems, and wastewater conveyance system design.

• n

  Prepare contract documents, including plans, specifications, cost estimating, and bid packages, and ensures that specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.

  Performs construction administration tasks.

• n

  Attend and participate in project team meetings, collaborate with staff-level engineers, and provide guidance to entry-level engineers.

  Interface with clients and support business development initiatives.

  n

• n

  Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on federal, state, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.

  Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices.

• n

  Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• n

  Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline.

  n
n
• n

  Professional Engineering License (PE License) in Louisiana required.

  n
n
• n

  5 + years of relevant post education experience in civil design and plan production for water resources, transportation and/or infrastructure projects.

  n

• n

  Understanding of and familiarity with local and state design guidelines and standards.

  n
n
• n

  Be highly proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and similar design software programs.

  n
n
• n

  Proficient in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Hydraflow Stormsewers and similar design software programs

• n

  Effective self-leadership with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

• n

  Demonstrated team leadership skills leading teams of other engineers and subconsultants in multi-disciplinary projects.

• n

  Strong verbal and written communications skills when interacting with others, with the ability to express intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

• n

  Ability to work independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid and entry-level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

• n

  Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, math principles, predictive models, and tools.

• n

  Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.

• n

  Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

• n

  Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

  Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

  Professional Engineer license in Louisiana.
