Chemical Process Engineer

We are currently seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to join our dynamic and collaborative Manufacturing Engineering Team in Orlando. This role focuses on the creation and continuous improvement of special processes for ultraprecision machined components. You'll be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the chemistry plating line to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily: Monitor plating line equipment and chemical solutions in tanks
• Weekly: Validate chemical solutions via titration and pH measurement
• Tri-Weekly: Run test panels to ensure plating line processes are within specification
• Collaborate with facilities and operations teams to improve plating line performance
• Maintain cleanliness and proper disposal of chemical waste
• Order and log chemicals/materials used

Working Conditions:

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment
• Chemistry lab environment with hazardous chemicals
• PPE required: goggles, respirators, lab coats, steel-toed shoes
• Physical handling of 55-gallon drums

Chemical Hazards You'll Work With:

• Iridite 14-2: Heavy metals, hexavalent chromium, strong acid
• Isoprep 188 & 35: Hexavalent chromium, strong acid, caustic
• Acid Pickle: Concentrated nitric and hydrofluoric acid

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong background in chemistry, chemical engineering, and hazardous materials handling
• Experience with plating, titration, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Familiarity with standards such as: MIL-DTL-5541F (Type I Class 1A & 3), ASTM-B117 (Salt Fog Testing), FED-STD-141 (Adhesion Testing), MIL-PRF-85285 (Paint processes)

Preferred Experience:

• Preparing hazardous chemical solutions on a large scale
• Monitoring and maintaining production equipment (pumps, heating elements, tank liners)
• Maintaining pH probes and DI water systems
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including operations, facilities, quality, and manufacturing engineering

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Orlando, FL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $56.65 - $56.65/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
