SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles is looking for a Certified Surgical Technologist. This is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of patients.

Job Summary:

As a Certified Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in patient care within the Operating Room. You will assist in setting up for surgeries, preparing necessary instruments and supplies, and providing assistance during procedures—all under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support in patient care under Registered Nurse supervision.
• Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to implement personalized patient care plans.
• Prepare and maintain the Operating Room with all necessary equipment and supplies.
• Communicate effectively and promptly with the Registered Nurse regarding patient information.
• Demonstrate expertise in handling and operating surgical instruments and equipment, while adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
• Accurately handle and label laboratory specimens following all policies and procedures.
• Document quality control measures thoroughly to ensure compliance with standards.
• Foster a collaborative and resourceful atmosphere among team members.
• Maintain a well-organized workspace and efficient time management.
• Stay alert and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Completion of a technical program for operating room technicians.
• No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively.
• Frequent lifting, standing, and walking with the ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional pushing/pulling of objects over 50 lbs.
• Active engagement in patient handling and movement.

Required Certifications:

• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent certifications.

Work Shift: Day Shift

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
