Join our team as a Certified Coder. This is not a remote position. You will work on site, 40 hours per week. Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, you will be responsible for coding and billing all surgeries based on documentation in the medical record, validating documentation, working with physicians to ensure proper coding, educating the medical staff on coding issues, managing the dictation system (tracking Operative Reports and obtaining timely signatures), and handling Medicare AR and patient statements.

Responsibilities

• Code diagnoses, procedures, and any implants accurately.
• Demonstrate knowledge of ICD-10 current version, CPT codes, and modifiers.
• Maintain current coding practices to assure timely coding.
• Ensure proper documentation is available in the medical record before coding; follow through to generate claims.
• Maintain required certification and training in coding.
• Interact positively and professionally with physicians, staff, and coworkers.
• Identify opportunities to teach co?workers and medical staff on accurate documentation supporting coding.

Required Skills

Education, Training and Experience:

• 35 years in a medical environment with ASC coding experience (orthopedics, pain management, gastrointestinal, general surgery).
• Certification required (American Academy of Professional Coders or equivalent ASC coding authority).
• Proficient English communication, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
