Job Description:

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist I plays a crucial role in cardiac catheterization procedures, operating at both technical and professional levels. This position requires some proctoring and supervision of technical details while performing a variety of independent technical procedures. The Specialist I takes initiative and assumes responsibility for various areas and procedures as required, adhering to the Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) Scope of Practice or for Electrophysiology, the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. An RN will always supervise patient care during moderate sedation.

Job Essentials

• Prepare the procedure room and manage post-procedure turnaround effectively.
• Make hemodynamic recordings, perform calculations, and analyze interpretations.
• Provide patient education and ensure comfort throughout the procedure.
• Assess patient condition and document observations while informing physicians of any deviations from normal.
• Develop specialized knowledge in cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomical anomalies, and treatment options.
• Understand and apply principles of x-ray safety and generation.
• Demonstrate proficiency in operating imaging equipment accurately.
• Assist in procedures as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech according to cath lab policies.
• May mix and administer certain medications under a physician's supervision.
• At the procedure's conclusion, may apply closure devices or assist in suturing and ensuring hemostasis.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• ACLS or PALS certification.
• Bachelor's degree in health science with six months of healthcare experience or equivalent qualifications, including specific program completions and clinical hours.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Current license in relevant fields; 2 years of CV Invasive Training experience or RN degree preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to see and read information, operate monitors, and assess patient needs.
• Frequent communication with patients and team members, needing good auditory and verbal skills, especially in emergencies.
• Manual dexterity to manipulate delicate equipment; frequent computer use required for documentation and preparation.
• Ability to lift and move patients and objects of varying weights; supplying and retrieving equipment is essential.
• Must walk and assist with patient transportation; capable of pushing/pulling equipment efficiently.
• Ability to stand in place for extended periods may be required.
• If driving is necessary, the ability to sit, see, and read traffic signs and signals is essential.

The hourly range for this position is $35.25 - $54.39. Actual hourly rate is dependent upon experience.
