Baylor Scott & White Cardiology Consultants of Texas - Dallas

Address: 621 N Hall St #500, Dallas, TX 75226 Located in: Baylor University Medical Center, part of Baylor Scott & White Health

Experience: 1 year of experience preferred. Will consider training candidates with cardiology or EKG/rhythm related experience, skills or training.

Certification/License/Registration : Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS): via IHBRE or previous NASPE.CDS credential preferred.

Education: H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent - New graduates of cardiac device specialist or related program welcomed!

In addition to BSWH benefits, our department will be offering Cardiac Device Technicians Tuition Reimbursement up to $3,000 towards learning and development for the IHBRE examination & CCDS credential & CEUs.

Work Schedule: FT - Mon - Fri - 8-5pm -this position will require travel once a week to satellite locations in Grapevine, Plano and Highland Village.

I am willing to look at trainee positions - anyone willing to learn with a background in cardiology, and good EKG/rhythm skills.

Job Summary

The Cardiac Device Tech 2 handles tasks related to implanted cardiac device management. Performs or delegates ICD, Pacemaker, and ILR evaluations for outpatients, inpatients, and procedure areas. Serves as a resource and mentor to team members.

Essential Functions of the Role

  • Serves as a resource to physicians and other practice employees regarding device patients and services.

  • Assesses the condition and appearance of the implant site. Documents any abnormality. Interrogates, interprets, and re-programs cardiac devices with minimal physician supervision.

  • Ensures charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.

  • Troubleshoots critical device issues and takes immediate steps toward resolution. Partners with physicians about device status and accurately documents device research in EMR for review.

  • Educates patients on all aspects of their device including remote monitoring and follow-up protocol.

  • Provides mentorship and training to junior staff in cardiac device interrogation policies and procedures. Teaches arrhythmia recognition to ensure safe testing methods.

  • Promotes a healthy clinical environment and good working relationships. Participates in positive, proactive inter- and intra-departmental communication.

  • Keeps equipment in good working condition and notifies appropriate personnel of problem areas or safety issues.

  • Ensures programming rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.

  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

  • Ability to work both discreetly and as part of a team to ensure efficient and accurate interpretations.

  • Use philosophy and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Examine and understand information.

  • Thorough knowledge of cardiac device management and related equipment.

  • Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias.

  • Proficiency in ECG interpretation.

  • Basic computer skills and electronic management of medical records.

  • Excellent communication and listening skills.

  • Proven skills in medical procedures.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent

  • EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience

  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS): Certified Cardiac Device Spec via IHBRE or previous NASPE.
