We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage daily financial operations, including processing 20-30 invoices per day and handling purchase orders. The role involves matching invoices to packing slips, posting journal entries, and reconciling bank activities each morning. The ideal candidate will ensure that inventory and dollar amounts align with the POS system, reconcile credit card statements, and process sales tax returns for North Carolina and Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Process and manage 20-30 invoices daily.
• Handle a dozen purchase orders per day, matching invoices to packing slips and posting journal entries.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and verify previous day's bank activities.
• Ensure inventory and dollar amounts match with the POS system, and reconcile discrepancies.
• Reconcile credit card statements accurately.
• Process sales tax returns for North Carolina and Virginia.

Essential Skills

• 3-5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and basic Excel skills.
• Comfortable working with electronic computer systems.
• Ability to understand the broader impact of accounting work on the business.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Possession of a relevant degree.
• Advanced Excel skills are advantageous.
• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop.

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite, operating Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a half-hour lunch, and Fridays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a half-hour lunch. You will be the sole accounting professional within a small distribution office of nine people, fostering a family-like environment. The team includes warehouse personnel, a purchasing officer, warehouse manager, sales staff, and the company president. The role offers the potential for permanent employment in a family-owned business, where your time is respected, and you receive support promptly. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.85/hr.
