Behavioral Health Social Worker (MSW)

The Behavioral Health Social Worker is a crucial part of our healthcare team, providing essential support and services to patients and their families. This role focuses on promoting mental, emotional, and social health through a variety of responsibilities such as psychotherapy, conducting assessments, developing patient-centered care plans, and facilitating access to resources. This position operates under the supervision required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.

Schedule: Two 10-hour shifts every four weeks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Psychotherapy: Deliver individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based techniques to address patients' emotional and psychological needs.
2. Documentation and Billing: Maintain accurate documentation and billing for services in compliance with insurance and regulatory standards.
3. Assessments: Conduct in-depth biopsychosocial assessments to identify patient needs and barriers to functioning.
4. Care Plans: Collaborate with healthcare teams and patients to create individualized care plans, encompassing medical, psychological, and social aspects for a comprehensive approach.
5. Resource Facilitation: Connect patients with community resources and mental health services, including referrals for evaluations and medication management.
6. Crisis Management: Provide crisis intervention and emotional support, creating effective resolution plans.
7. Monitoring & Evaluation: Continuously assess patients’ progress towards their care plans and adjust interventions accordingly.
8. Advocacy: Represent and advocate for patients’ needs within the healthcare system to ensure they receive the necessary treatments and support.
9. Active Listening: Practice active listening to genuinely understand patients' concerns, providing a compassionate and safe environment.
10. Respect for Individuality: Acknowledge and integrate patients' unique backgrounds and values into care strategies.
11. Building Trust: Establish trust through empathy, confidentiality, and professionalism, fostering open communication with patients.
12. Team Participation: Engage in meetings and initiatives related to problem-solving, goal setting, quality improvement, and patient satisfaction.
