Behavior Support Specialist - ABA Tutor/RBT

Salary: $26 / Hour

Job Title: Behavior Support Specialist - ABA Tutor / Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Location: Palmer, MA (Hampden County)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: School Year

Pay Rate:

• ABA Tutor: $25-$27/hour (based on experience)

• RBT: $27-$30/hour (based on experience)

Overview:

Amergis Educational Staffing is partnered with a school in Hampden County to hire two ABA Tutors or Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to work with students on a contractual basis. These roles will support students in an elementary school setting, either floating between classrooms or working 1:1 with specific students. Assignments may shift based on IEP grid changes, so flexibility is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct behavioral support to students with ASD, developmental disabilities, and other behavioral/emotional needs

• Implement ABA strategies including discrete trial training and data collection

• Support students exhibiting behaviors such as aggression, elopement, flopping, or self-injury

• Collaborate with classroom teams and contribute to a positive learning environment

• Assist with recess, lunch, bus duty, and classroom transitions

• Support toileting and hygiene needs as required

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• At least 2 years of pediatric experience preferred

• Current CPR certification (if applicable)

• TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable)

• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with students impacted by trauma

• Training in de-escalation techniques (please specify training received)

• Familiarity with IEPs and participation in IEP-driven instruction

• Strong skills in data collection and behavior tracking

• ABA experience, including discrete trial implementation

• RBT certification preferred but not required for ABA Tutor role
