General Function: Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.

Receives product, verifies invoices, delivers product to the appropriate department in a prompt, efficient, friendly and safe manner.

Accountable and Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Manager of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Service Managers

Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
• Makes an effort to learn customers' names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products, loading or unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly.
• Works with co-workers as a team.
• Works with company's subsidiaries to receive product.
• Ensures receipts and takes to accounting.
• Plans, prepares, and adjusts work schedules.
• Unloads products from truck.
• Uses forklifts to unload trucks.
• Delivers items to the appropriate department.
• Checks invoices for accuracy.
• Receives all vendor orders.
• Protects cold food chain.
• Coordinates the receipt and lock up of controlled items.
• Works with returned items.
• Maintains area for sale items.
• Maintains a clean and orderly backroom.
• Ensures cardboard and trash areas are clean.
• Keeps training certifications current.
• Works in a safe and efficient manner.
• Works for the store department to do small equipment repairs.
• Maintains cleanliness outside of store.
• Adheres to department and company guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Answers questions from outside customers.
• Assists in other areas of the store.
• Performs other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

Education and Experience:

• High School or equivalent experience.
• Six months to one year of similar or related experience.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports): Responsible for managing backroom duties and employees.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
• Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force constantly.
• Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet.
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

This position is continually exposed to dirt. There is frequent exposure to temperature extremes, dampness, equipment movement hazards and cleaning chemicals/solvents.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

Electric pallet jack, hand pallet jack, RPM, intercom system, forklift, telephone, and two-wheeler.

Has daily contact with internal customers, suppliers/vendors, and the general public.
