Backend Software Engineer Intern (TikTok-Product Infrastructure-Account) - 2026 Summer(BS/MS)

Responsibilities
The Account team supports identity and access services across TikTok and its ecosystem, including commerce, music, live video, and business offerings. This foundational service empowers innovation and business expansion worldwide. Interns will engage with system-level challenges around scalability, reliability, security, and performance. We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2026. Internships at TikTok aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Responsibilities: - Assist in designing, testing, deploying, and maintaining backend services within our distributed systems. - Work closely with engineers and cross-functional partners to maintain best practices and technical excellence. - Help analyze and improve system efficiency, scalability, and stability, contributing to system health monitoring and optimization.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during the Summer of 2026. - Programming experience in Go, Java, C++, Python, or similar languages. - Familiarity with backend development patterns and database fundamentals (e.g. SQL / NoSQL). - Strong communication and excellent teamwork skills; Quick learner with a strong interest in backend systems and cloud-native services. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with distributed systems concepts (e.g. microservices, caching, load balancing). - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Graduating December 2026 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship. (For Pay Transparency)Compensation Description (Hourly) - Campus Intern
The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45- $45.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year). Interns who are not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance.
