Automation Equipment Technician
Summary: Join our dynamic team as an Automation Equipment Technician, where you will be pivotal in ensuring the performance and safety of our distribution center's automated mailing equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare tools and equipment setup ahead of production to ensure maximum safety.
- Conduct intermediate troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of automated mailing equipment.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to efficiently address maintenance challenges while enhancing equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.
- Educate operations employees on the proper usage and basic maintenance of automation machines.
- Complete reports and engage in weekly technical calls.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to Automation Technician I team members.
- Assist in updating manuals and programs for automated equipment.
- Participate in in-house automation projects alongside automation engineers.
- Support Automation Helpdesk Level 1 requests.
Education and/or Experience:
- At least two years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or automated distribution environment.
- Intermediate skills in Mechanical (including Hydraulics and Pneumatics), Electrical, and Computer systems.
- Basic understanding of industrial machine operating principles.
- Experience with CMMS is a plus.
Characteristics/Skills:
- Strong safety-oriented mindset.
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Word and Excel.
- Effective communicator both verbally and in writing with operators, supervisors, and engineering teams.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Flexibility in scheduling based on business needs.
- Positive and collaborative team player.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, bend, push, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs (more with assistance).
- Capability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a somewhat loud environment, with no damaging levels of noise.
- Adaptability to temperature variations within the distribution center.
- Ability to climb and descend stairs, ladders, and scaffolds, with work conducted at various heights.
