Athletic Trainer-Duke Sports Sciences Institute (DSSI)-Durham, NC

We are seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care to patients at our Duke Sports Sciences Institute clinic located in Durham, NC.

Job Summary:

The role involves performing patient intake for various medical and musculoskeletal conditions, conducting physical examinations, collaborating with physicians for treatment plans, and adhering to the best practices for concussion evaluation and management. The Athletic Trainer will also assist with minor surgical procedures and document all aspects of evaluation within the Electronic Health Record.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform appropriate patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions.
• Perform appropriate physical examination per patient history and chief complaint.
• At direction of supervising physician, perform appropriate point of care testing and order appropriate diagnostic testing or follow-up care.
• Document all aspects of evaluation, testing appropriately within the Electronic Health Record.
• Collaborate with supervising physician to develop an appropriate plan of care for treatment/interventions.
• Use current best practices for concussion evaluation and management.
• Prepare for and assists physician with minor surgical procedures, including preparation of patient treatment site.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager or HCA.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

• A four-year college degree meeting the requirements of an athletic trainer. Subsequently, the individual must obtain a license to practice in North Carolina from NCBATE.
• National BOC certification
• Licensed by NC Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners
• Current CPR certification

Job Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with no evenings, weekends or holidays
