Assistant Scientist

We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Scientist to join our research and development team. A successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experimental work and supporting the design of new blended enzyme products for food applications.

Responsibilities

• Carry out experimental work at the bench to support product development.
• Aid in designing innovative blended enzyme products for food applications.
• Develop new enzyme-based applications to enhance food products.
• Conduct lab experiments to support new product development and improve customer formulations.
• Assist in creating at least two new innovative product applications per year.
• Provide scientific data for webinars, technical documents, and marketing materials.
• Help design and test new products from concept through commercialization.
• Support customer needs by responding to technical requests and participating in pilot trials.
• Maintain lab equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
• Document findings in a lab notebook and present results to the team.

Essential Skills

• A degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Knowledge in food science, biochemistry, and chemistry.
• Experience with research and development processes.
• Ability to conduct assays and use instrumental techniques like gas chromatography, HPLC, and spectrophotometry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Lab experience from school is required; industry experience is not mandatory.
• Dairy protein knowledge is considered a plus.

Work Environment

The position is based in an R&D lab and follows a standard work schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.77 - $30.77/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
