Environmental Scientist / Asbestos Inspector

Location: Midtown Manhattan, NY (Field-Based across NYC & Five Boroughs) Pay Rate: $30$35/hour

About the Role: Join a growing environmental team working on high-impact NYC agency projects. We're hiring for a hybrid role that combines responsibilities of an Environmental Scientist and Asbestos Inspector, ideal for professionals passionate about public health, environmental compliance, and fieldwork.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct environmental field investigations, sampling, and inspections.
• Perform lead-based paint and asbestos inspections in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, HUD, NYS Department of Health, and other regulatory standards.
• Assist in project planning, data evaluation, and report preparation under senior staff guidance.
• Maintain accurate field records and communicate findings to project managers and clients.
• Adhere to health, safety, and quality standards during field operations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or related field.
• 2+ years of field or lab experience in environmental inspections.
• 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification (required).
• Current NYS Asbestos Inspector or EPA Lead Inspector license (in good standing).
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with lead-safe work practices and environmental sampling methods.
• Experience using field inspection software and data collection tools.
• NYS Asbestos Inspector certification (if not already held).

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
