Aquatics Manager
An Aquatics Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations, safety, and programming of a pool or aquatics facility at Phoenix Country Club. This leadership role includes supervising staff, developing programs, and ensuring all facility policies and regulations are followed to provide a safe and engaging environment for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations for the club pools.
- Communicate regularly with our contracted pool service company daily to ensure maintenance and cleanliness.
- Communicate regularly with the Aquatics Director on day-to-day operations and monthly operations.
- Managing the guest check-in processes and ensuring a welcoming experience.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting pool environment for members and guests.
- Oversee the cleanliness of pool areas, remove debris, remove garbage, spray surfaces, and maintain patio furniture.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks (e.g., pumps, skimmers, drains).
- Train staff and uphold high service standards.
- Address member concerns with professionalism, patience, and strong customer service skills.
Staff Management:
- Scheduling: Create and manage staff work schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels for all programs and operational hours.
- Training and development: Plan and lead in-service training and weekly meetings to keep staff current on policies, procedures, and emergency response techniques.
- Conflict resolution: Address staff conflicts and provide coaching and guidance to foster a positive team environment.
Program and Event Management:
- Program development: Assist in developing, marketing, and implementing new aquatics programs for various age groups, including swimming lessons, competitive programs, and fitness classes.
- Budgeting: Assist in managing the program budget for certain programming, including monitoring expenditure, collecting revenue, and processing payments.
- Event coordination: Assist with planning and overseeing special events, such as birthday parties, swim meets, and other facility activities.
Facility Operations and Maintenance:
- Safety and risk management: Ensure all facility safety protocols are followed and respond appropriately during aquatic emergencies.
- Water chemistry: Monitor and maintain proper pool water chemistry, temperature, and cleanliness. Report to the Director if issues with Water Chemistry are off.
- Inspections: Conduct daily inspections of equipment and the pool area to check for and correct any safety hazards.
- General maintenance: Schedule and monitor regular facility maintenance and repairs.
Customer Service and Communication:
- Patron relations: Provide excellent customer service to guests, answer inquiries, and resolve issues or complaints.
- Marketing: Assist with the promotion and marketing of aquatic services through reports and other communication channels.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: A high school diploma or GED, a bachelor's degree in recreation administration or a related field, is often preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, or in a supervisory aquatic role is required.
- Certifications:
- Current Lifeguard Certification (Star Guard or equivalent).
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
- Lifeguard Instructor certification is preferred or required within a set timeframe.
- A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification may also be preferred, not required.
- Skills and abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Excellent leadership, supervisory, and team-building skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Competency with relevant software for scheduling, registration, and budgeting.
Physical demands:
- Must be able to see and hear distress signals and other hazards within a noisy pool environment.
- Must have the physical ability to swim distances, perform water rescues, lift heavy objects, and remain on one's feet for long periods.
- Must be willing to work in a variety of conditions.
Compensation: $52,000 + incentives
