Department Details: Our pediatric endocrinology department is a collaborative department with multiple disciplines to support patient care including board certified endocrinologists, a pediatrician specializing in diabetes care, diabetes educators, a dietitian, a social worker, and a nursing team.

Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating patients within our pediatric endocrinology clinic. Provides service to patients by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating patients. Obtains a thorough medical history from patient and dependent on patient population and setting will perform an examination and/or assessment to determine patients needs. With other healthcare professionals, analyze and interpret information collected from patient, medical records, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information, to develop and establish appropriate diagnosis. Works in collaboration with providers and independently to provide care. Formulates a plan for treatment of the patient and prescribes medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized if necessary. Maintain complete and detailed records of patients health care plans and prognoses in a timely manner. Consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists when conditions exceed the scope of practice or expertise. Provide patients with information needed to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease or disability. Counsels patients and family members about self-management on prevention and treatment plan for health issues, tailoring instructions to patients individual circumstances. Conducts research into area of specialty and uses findings to provide measurable improvements in patient care and clinical outcomes. Incorporates evidence based practice guidelines into care. Maintain current knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices, including reimbursement of services. Keep abreast of regulatory processes and payer systems such as Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and private sources, as applicable. Demonstrate extensive advanced knowledge of medical principles, practices and techniques.

Qualifications: Completion of a masters, postmasters, or doctorate from an nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, masters degree in nursing is preferred. + Schedule: Monday through Friday. No evenings or weekends. No call. + Clinic only + New Grads will be considered if have pediatric or endocrinology RN experience (for NP) + If experienced AP, preferred areas of in pediatrics, diabetes, or endocrinology + Will see clinic patients, both new and follow up. + Current team consists of 2 board certified pediatric endocrinologists, 1 pediatrician that has additional training in diabetology + Department has a strong support team including RN navigators, diabetes educators, social work, behavioral health, and dietitian support. + Required FTE: 1.0 preferred but could review other options if would like a lower FTE but would like full time. + Demonstrated current competence and provision of care, treatment, or services for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months, or completion of masters/post-masters degree program in the past twelve months. Experience must correlate to the privileges requested. Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances. Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Primary Care (CPNP-AC) or (PPCNP-BC) or Family NP - (NP-C) or (FNP-BC) Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or an equivalent nationally recognized body. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Practice Details: Would work with 2 board certified pediatric endocrinologists, a pediatrician with specialized diabetes training, multiple diabetes educators, nursing, dietitian, and social work. The team does outreach to many locations which would be a same day outreach approximately one day per week.
