Structures Mechanic- San Antonio Texas

We are seeking experienced structures mechanics to support the VC-25B Program in San Antonio, TX. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures and components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

Responsibilities

• Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas.
• Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structures.
• Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structures in accordance with standard repair processes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modifications or repairs.
• Access and manipulate computer systems daily for work instructions, drawings, and training.
• Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts.
• Solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals.
• Troubleshoot and repair aircraft mechanical components and replace components as needed.
• Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests.
• Provide guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and maintenance efforts.
• Operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric-powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignments.
• Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
• Work various shifts and possibly weekends and holidays to support mission requirements, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Essential Skills

• 4+ years of experience in on-aircraft heavy structures.
• Experience with close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures.
• Ability to obtain customer approval for aircraft access.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft repair procedures and replacement of parts.
• Experience in working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
• Proficient in using structures hand tools such as drills, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns.
• Proficient in computer skills related to aircraft systems and basic office software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with VIP aircraft or specialty aircraft interiors installations within the last ten years.
• Experience with Depot Level or Heavy Structures maintenance.
• Experience working on or around Executive Fleet Platforms.
• FAA certification in Airframe and/or Power Plant license preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment involves exposure to noise and working on elevated platforms. You will be required to use personal protective gear and handle hazardous materials. Work may involve various shifts and overtime based on business needs. Physical requirements include ascending and descending ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting loads of approximately 35 pounds.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
