WVUHS and the Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a full time (0.9 FTE) APP to join our team at Uniontown Hospital.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide healthcare services consistent with state law and the requirements of the professional licensing or certification authority and/or hospital privileges, where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master's Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
• American Heart Association BLS and ATLS Certifications required.
• Additional Advanced Life Support certification is required as deemed necessary by the department.

Experience:

• Acute care or emergency medicine experience preferred.
• Eligible new graduates will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• ACNP or FNP considered.

Minimum Qualifications for Physician Assistant:

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree as a Medical/Surgical (as applicable) Physician Assistant required.
• Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required.
• Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine or WV Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
• American Heart Association BLS and ATLS Certifications required.
• Additional Advanced Life Support certification is required as deemed necessary by the department.

Experience:

• Acute care or emergency medicine experience preferred.
• Eligible new graduates will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• Masters level education as Medical/Surgical (as applicable) Physician Assistant preferred.

Core duties and responsibilities include managing comprehensive and individualized care for emergency medicine patients, completing pre-procedure evaluations, performing and communicating results of diagnostic tests, and facilitating patient discharge by coordinating appropriate services and tests. The APP will also develop a comprehensive individualized plan of care, demonstrate expertise in caring for patients across the age continuum, and participate in community programs and distribution of literature as appropriate in their area of expertise.

The physical demands of this role include heavy/hard work, working closely with others, protracted or irregular hours, working around biohazards, infectious diseases, and electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment. Proficiency with computers and strong communication skills are required.
