Accounting Supervisor

The Accounting Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with all applicable regulations. This role supervises a team of accounting staff, reviews their work for accuracy, and provides guidance on complex transactions. The Accounting Supervisor works closely with management to improve processes, maintain internal controls, and support organizational financial goals.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll transactions.
• Review account reconciliations and financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure deadlines are met.
• Establish and enforce internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.
• Support outside tax accountants by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and responding to inquiries.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of accounting staff.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and resolve accounting issues.

Essential Skills:

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Ability to create financial statements.
• Strong communication skills with General Managers and Owners.
• Proficiency in accounting software, specifically QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong technical skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership abilities.

Work Environment:

The work environment is an office setting with hybrid flexibility, requiring onsite presence from Monday to Thursday with the option to work from home on Friday. The role involves collaborating with a team and commuting to the office four days a week. The company offers a supportive team environment with a focus on work/life balance.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Seymour, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr. Benefits: 401(k) with matching plan Health, Dental, Vision, Ancillary insurances Death Benefit Paid time off Paid time for Holidays
