Position Summary: The Transportation and Logistics Supervisor assists in the oversight of daily operations of the grocery transportation team, ensuring the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of products to over 500 stores. This role provides general supervision of all Driver Helpers and Yard Drivers. This role also entails assisting driver scheduling, compliance with DOT and company policies, and operational performance while fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Provides daily work direction for 21 Driver Helpers and 3 Yard Drivers
• Ensures the timely delivery of over 1000 weekly deliveries ($700 million annually) to over 500 stores
• Assists with moving tractors and trailers on WDC property (Medical Certificate and safe driving record required)
• Manage scheduling for a proprietary fleet of 45 trucks covering 2.2M+ miles annually
• Administers truck routing operations by scheduling drivers, arranging routes, and allocating vehicles
• Monitors and coordinates maintenance and specialty needs of Company equipment
• Assist in oversite in regard to the compliance reporting for transportation software's Lytx, Samsara and PeopleNet
• Assist in executing company ergonomic and driver safety programs using Safety In Motion and JJ Keller
• Ensures the use of proper food safety techniques as it pertains to the FSMA regulations
• Assists in arranging drivers' training and testing as required (e.g., drug testing and licensing requirements)
• Communication with customers regarding operating schedules and delivery problems
• Organizes transportation paperwork; including route manifests, invoices, special customer notifications, maps etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Working Relationships: Liaison between Transportation, DC operations, Store Support Center (SSC), Store Operations and Carriers

Requirements:

Minimum Education: High School

Preferred Education: Bachelors Degree

Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of experience in all facets of outbound transportation

Preferred Experience: 5-7 years of experience in all aspects of outbound transportation, preferably in the food service industry

Licenses/Certifications: Class A commercial driver's license and safe driving record preferred

Soft Skills/Competencies:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to motivate a large group of people and promote employee engagement

Other Requirements:

Travel: Occasionally for store visits and industry seminars

Hours & Conditions: On call 24 hours, 7days a week; office is located at the Distribution Center; work week is Monday Friday; 8am- 5pm. Schedule is subject to change based on the needs of the business

Physical Requirements: Minimal physical effort required, sitting / standing at computer for long periods of time. Ability to maneuver and lift up to 10 lbs.
