Usability Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior UI/UX Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design and development efforts for a multi-phased incremental transformation program using Oracle HCM Cloud within the Federal Government sector. In this role, you will be responsible for creating intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly interfaces for HCM SaaS applications, leveraging Oracle HCM Cloud and other low code/no code platforms like Visual Builder and Appian. Your expertise in UI/UX design and development will be instrumental in driving the success of our transformation initiatives and ensuring a seamless user experience for Federal Government employees within the SAFe Agile framework.

More About the Role:

  • Lead the design and development of UI/UX for Oracle HCM Cloud applications, following design principles, methodologies, and best practices to create intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including product managers, business analysts, developers, and end-users, to understand requirements, gather feedback, and iterate on designs to meet user needs effectively.
  • Utilize low code/no code platforms such as Oracle Visual Builder and Appian to design and develop UI components, workflows, forms, and dashboards for HCM SaaS applications. Leverage the visual drag-and-drop interface of Visual Builder and the process-centric approach of Appian to rapidly prototype and iterate on UI designs.
  • Translate UI/UX designs into high-quality frontend code using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design principles, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness.
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using UI/UX prototyping tools like Figma (utilizing Redwood design system) and iterate on designs based on user feedback and usability testing.
  • Manage multiple UI/UX design projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced SAFe Agile environment, ensuring alignment with program objectives and timelines.
  • Actively participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, contributing insights and recommendations to optimize UI/UX design and development processes within the Agile framework.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional SAFe Agile teams including product managers, developers, QA engineers, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of UI/UX design projects in alignment with program increments and release trains.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in UI/UX design and development and incorporate emerging tools and techniques into design projects as appropriate within the SAFe Agile context.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior UI/UX developers, sharing best practices, knowledge, and expertise to foster professional growth and development within the SAFe Agile environment.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field; master's degree or relevant certifications in UI/UX design or frontend development preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in UI/UX design and development, with a focus on creating user interfaces for enterprise applications, preferably within the HCM domain.
  • Strong proficiency in low code/no code platforms such as Oracle Visual Builder and Appian, with hands-on experience in designing and developing UI components and workflows.
  • Expertise in frontend technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design principles, with the ability to translate UI/UX designs into high-quality frontend code.
  • Experience with UI/UX prototyping tools such as Figma (utilizing Redwood design system) and familiarity with design thinking principles and user-centric design approaches.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced SAFe Agile environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional SAFe Agile teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, gather feedback, and iterate on designs.
  • US citizenship and eligibility to obtain a security clearance may be required for certain client engagements.
