Ultrasound Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Ultrasound Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of all Ultrasound imaging services. Collaborating with the Radiology Supervisor/Director/Manager, this position focuses on shift leadership while also providing hands-on patient care by performing ultrasound scans. The supervisor will lead the Ultrasound team, monitor patient workflow, and deliver education to radiology associates as needed, ensuring high standards of care and image acquisition.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide direct supervision and support to Ultrasound staff.
• Ensure optimal patient workflow and care standards.
• Act as a role model for clinical and service excellence.
• Manage the scheduling for the ultrasound team, including finding coverage for time-off requests.
• Participate in call rotations with the Director and Manager of Radiology.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound technology program. ARRT certification as an Ultrasound technologist is required; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Certification/Licenses: Current Radiology license in the State of New Mexico and a BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Skills:

• In-depth technical knowledge of ultrasound imaging equipment.
• Understanding of anatomy, physiology, radiographic positioning, and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with radiology quality assurance and control standards.
• Basic computer skills are essential.

Experience: A minimum of three years of experience at a Charge Tech level is required. Certification in an additional modality is preferred.

Nature of Supervision: This position reports directly to the Director/Manager of Radiology Services.

Work Environment: This role will involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and x-rays. The Ultrasound Supervisor may work irregular hours and will be involved in multiple patient care activities simultaneously.

Physical Requirements: Ability to handle emergency situations, prolonged standing, and lifting patients or equipment over 50 lbs. Candidates must possess normal hearing and visual acuity, along with manual dexterity and fine motor coordination.
