Trust Account Specialist

Our client, a nonprofit in Downtown Los Angeles, is looking to hire a Trust Account Specialist on a temporary to hire basis, where you will play a vital role in overseeing and maintaining financial accounts for individuals receiving services. This position ensures compliance with all relevant guidelines and supports seamless financial operations.

Primary Duties:

• Conduct monthly reviews of individual trust accounts to confirm balances remain under the limit.
• Examine the origin of funds each month to verify accurate coding and classification.
• When account balances exceed the allowable threshold, coordinate with Service Coordinators to initiate appropriate spending to bring balances into compliance.
• Oversee and reconcile TCB and Source of Fund (SOF) loans, ensuring repayments are made promptly.
• Validate payment amounts by auditing check run reports.
• Prepare and submit Representative Payee documentation to Social Security during transitions or new assignments.
• Complete and file Social Security and Medi-Cal applications and redeterminations within required timeframes.
• Collaborate with case management to gather necessary paperwork for new applications and redeterminations, helping to prevent processing delays.
• Reconcile trust accounts for individuals who are inactive, have transferred, or are deceased, and escalate unresolved accounts to the Lead after 90 days.
• Respond promptly and professionally to urgent funding requests from Providers and Service Coordinators.
• Serve as a communication bridge between staff and external funding sources.
• Maintain accurate and timely filing of all financial and administrative documents.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least four years of experience in accounting, Social Security, or Medi-Cal, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply basic accounting principles.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Pay Details: $23.00 to $30.00 per hour
