American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) position requiring at least 3 years of LDRP experience and active certifications including BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring.
Job Details
• Work in an acute care LDRP unit with trauma level 2 designation,
• Unit features 7 L&D beds, 12 postpartum beds, 8 surgical beds, a dedicated C-section OR, and 3 triage bays,
• Covers obstetric, antepartum, postpartum, and surgical/medical patient populations including high-risk OB cases,
• Staff nurse ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: L&D 1:1-2, Postpartum 1:2-3 couplets, 1:3-4 surgical/medical,
• Utilizes Epic EMR and GE/Corometrics fetal monitor systems,
• Required to work rotating day and night 12-hour shifts, with schedules posted 6 weeks in advance,
• Weekend coverage required every third weekend and holidays as needed,
• Floating may be required to Peds MS, NICU (feeder-growers), or to other adult units as a sitter or assisting,
• Surgical scrubs are provided for use on this unit,
Job Requirements
• Active RN license (state or compact) in hand at time of consideration,
• Minimum 3 years of proven LDRP experience required,
• Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (advanced preferred), STABLE,
• Ability to titrate pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and occasional insulin drips,
• Experience in reading telemetry strips for C-section phase 1 recovery,
• Required references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within last 3 years,
• Copy of a valid driver's license required,
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and not be employed in any full-time, part-time, or PRN status with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year,
Additional Information
• Primary responsibilities include L&D, antepartum, triage, postpartum, and surgical/medical patient care for pregnant patients and newborns,
• Titrate OB-related IV drips and administer high-risk medications as required by unit protocols,
• RNs are expected to assist in scrubbing and must have skills to acclimate quickly to the team,
• Charge nurse is present each shift and also carries a patient assignment, but travelers will not serve as charge,
• Support staff includes OB scrub techs, unit clerks, and nursing assistants or techs,
• OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia coverage are available 24/7 on call or in-house,
• Orientation is comprised of two 12-hour unit-specific shifts,
• High patient satisfaction scores within the department,
