Location: Asheville, NC 28801
Facility: Mission Hospital – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) Unit
Assignment Type: Travel Nursing
Start Date: September 22, 2025
End Date: December 22, 2025
Duration: 13-week contract
Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1880 - $2020
Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Dress Code: Navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
BLS and ACLS certifications required
At least 1 year of recent stepdown, telemetry, or progressive care nursing experience
Experience with cardiac and vascular surgery patient populations preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred
Excellent teamwork, adaptability, and ability to excel in a fast-paced healthcare environment

PCU RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from cardiovascular and vascular surgeries
Monitor and manage telemetry and stepdown patients, including those with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
Assist with procedures such as epidural and chest tube management, tube feedings, IV gluccomander, and cardiac gtt management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Float as needed to other stepdown, medical-surgical units, or ER inpatient holding areas
Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital policies and clinical protocols
