Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position with a CA RN license and pediatric ICU expertise required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool, floating between the PICU, CTICU, and NICU units as needed
• Care for critically ill infants, children, and cardiac patients within Level I trauma, teaching hospital setting
• Responsibilities include day and night 12-hour shifts, with a combination of weekend and holiday requirements
• On-call duties are required
• Epic is used for charting, with required prior experience
• Travelers may float to satellite locations for NICU; mileage reimbursement is available
• Scrub color of any choice is permitted
• Deliver high-acuity nursing care across multiple pediatric critical care units
• Expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays per contract, including holiday eves
• Rotating weekends with a set number of required day and night shifts; one full weekend per 4-week schedule is off
• Maximum of 6 days of requested time off allowed during the assignment, while still meeting the three-shift weekly requirement
• Modules must be completed pre-start but are not part of orientation hours
• Free parking is provided for travelers
• Permanent staff must wait one year before being eligible to travel
• Candidates previously marked DNR at CHOC are ineligible
• Travelers may be required to float within the hospital to meet operational needs

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of PICU or strong CTICU experience with prior floating
• Current BLS and PALS certifications are required
• Prior Epic EMR experience required
• Flu vaccination required prior to start
• Preferred candidates have prior travel or floating experience
• First-time travelers are accepted
