Operating Room Registered Nurse - General

Job Description

This is a 13-week contract position for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to function independently across multiple specialties while providing exemplary patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Scrubbing and circulating for various surgical specialties including Robotics, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Bariatrics, ENT, Plastics, Vascular, Thoracic (excluding cardiac and open heart), and Trauma.
• Administering blood products and managing specimens in accordance with hospital policies.
• Participating in infection control and safety protocols, including laser and radiation safety.
• Performing urinary bladder catheterization and wound management as needed.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary support teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Responding to emergencies with appropriate measures including fire safety and code response.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience required, including Level II Trauma experience. Level I Trauma experience preferred.
• Experience with the Davinci Xi and DV5 robotic systems is essential.
• Certifications: BLS required; additional certifications preferred.
• Teaching hospital experience is required.

Schedule

• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30).
• Must be available for 4-5 weekend shifts within a 6-week matrix.
• Call required with a 30-minute call back response; 4-5 calls within a 6-week matrix.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend.
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays and cannot take time off between Christmas and New Year’s.
