Registered Nurse – IMC

Facility: Meritus Medical Center
Location: 11116 Medical Campus Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21742
End Date: 13-week contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts/week

Position Overview

Meritus Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse with IMC experience for a night shift travel assignment. The nurse will provide care in the Intermediate Care (IMC) unit managing a patient ratio of approximately 4:1. Experience with ICU/IMC patients and ability to manage complex medical conditions is preferred. Nurses must be flexible to float within the unit as needed.

Certifications & Requirements

• RN License: Active Maryland RN License or Compact License – Required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS – Required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years IMC or ICU experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience: Not required
• Charting System: EPIC – Required
• Travel experience: Required
• Teaching Hospital experience: Not required

Skills & Competencies

• Patient Ratio: 1:4 - 1:5
• IV therapy including phlebotomy, accessing ports, blood product administration
• Central line, peripheral line, PICC line management
• Care of ventilated patients, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Tracheostomy management
• Neurological care including CVA, intracranial bleeds, post-TPA care
• Cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia management, telemetry
• Use of rapid response/code teams
• Isolation precautions and wound care
• IV insulin protocols
• Orthopedic trauma and peripheral nerve block catheters
• Cardiovascular care including pacemakers and post cardiac cath
• Additional skills: peritoneal dialysis, pre-neurosurgery experience
