Shift: Days – 3x12 Hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

Position Overview

This is a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN position at Samaritan Medical Center. Nurses will provide intermediate-level care for acutely ill patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions. The position requires strong critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills. Candidates must have prior travel experience and be flexible to work weekends and holidays. Local candidates within 60 miles are not eligible. Previous Samaritan staff must have a minimum 2-year break in employment and be eligible for rehire.

Requirements

Licensure: Active New York State RN License – Required at submission
Experience:

• At least 1 prior successful travel assignment – Required
• Recent critical care or PCU experience – Preferred

Travel Experience: Required (minimum 1 completed assignment)
Local Rule: Must reside at least 60 miles away from the facility
Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 2 years and eligible for rehire

Certifications

• BLS (AHA) – Required
• ACLS (AHA) – Required
• PALS – Preferred
• IV and IV Contrast Certification – Required
• Coronary Care Course – Required or challenge exam within orientation
• Basic Lethal Dysrhythmia – Within 6 months of employment
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – Within 6 months of employment

• Progressive/intermediate care of acutely ill patients
• Strong clinical assessment and monitoring skills
• Emergency response for deteriorating patients
• Safe patient handling and use of lifting equipment

Other Requirements:

• Strong leadership and prioritization skills

• Must function well under pressure and in fast-paced environments
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
