Pay Package:

• Total Hourly Pay Rate: $65.25/hr
• Taxable (W2): $18.00/hr
• Non-Taxable Stipend: $47.25/hr

Position Overview

Join Rochester General Hospital’s highly regarded Medical Step-Down Unit (MSDU), a dynamic PCU environment providing specialized care for patients transitioning from critical care. This is a great opportunity for experienced Progressive Care nurses seeking to advance their clinical expertise in a 528-bed tertiary care hospital with a strong interdisciplinary support system.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, Step-Down, or Telemetry RN experience
• License: Active NY RN License required at submission (must be in hand)
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Charting System: EPIC (experience required)
• Travel Experience: Required
• Local Radius Rule: Candidates must live 75+ miles from facility

Skills & Responsibilities

• Provide care for adult and geriatric patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and support
• Manage patients requiring airway support, acute BiPAP, central lines, and titratable IV infusions
• Perform cardiac and respiratory monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to emergencies
• Administer blood products, manage cardiac drips (no titration), and perform IV/Phlebotomy procedures
• Float as needed to ICU or Medical-Surgical units
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and efficient patient care

• Unit: MSDU – Intermediate Care / Step-Down Unit
• Beds: 18
• Daily Census: ~17
• Ratios: Days 1:3 | Nights 1:4 | Weekends 1:3
• Float: To ICU or Med-Surg units
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Patient Types: Primarily medical diagnoses with a focus on pulmonary and respiratory cases
