Key Job Details – OR RN Travel Assignment

• Location: Alamogordo, NM 88310 (New Mexico nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel, Full Time
• Unit: Operating Room (Orthopedic Surgery focus)
• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
• Duration: 13 weeks (potential temp-to-perm)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Start Date: November 2, 2025
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• On Call Requirement: Yes, every other week
• Floating: May float to Med/Surg Tele as needed
• Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:5

Qualifications – Operating Room Registered Nurse

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico or compact state (required for New Mexico healthcare jobs)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN or in surgical nursing (preferred)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as scheduled

OR RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in the Operating Room with a focus on orthopedic surgery (joint replacements, fractures, shoulders, podiatry cases)
• Utilize the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administer medications and treatments per protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided in the electronic health record
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on surgical procedures, recovery, and ongoing care needs
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Float to Med/Surg Telemetry unit as needed
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide weekend coverage as required
