Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Pikeville, KY 41501 (Appalachian region)
• Healthcare Setting: 7A Medical Surgical Unit
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: November 10, 2025
• End Date: February 7, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Shifts per Week: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,630–$1,750 per week (estimated)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Kentucky or compact state
• Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current certifications: CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and EKG
• Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience (5 years preferred)
• Previous travel nursing experience required

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver direct, individualized patient care to young adults, adults, and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical setting
• Perform comprehensive head-to-toe nursing assessments and re-assessments
• Monitor and interpret cardiac status; intervene as needed
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and specialized IV drips
• Manage pain, sedation, and provide chest tube care/insertion
• Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization procedures
• Access central lines and manage blood transfusion therapy
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all patient care activities
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members and involve patients and families in care planning
• Supervise, mentor, and precept new healthcare staff and nursing employees
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and ongoing clinical education
• Comply with infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies
